KLNRMO is the Kowanyama Land and Natural Resource Management Office.
All source files are in ESRI shape format with a nominal scale of 1:250 000. They were transformed to the EPSG:4326 datum on import into a POSTGRESQL/POSTGIS database. Only selected attributes of the source files were imported into POSTGRESQL tables. Maps were created from database queries and then saved as GEOJSON files for display with the LEAFLET JS map package.
The GEODATA metadata link (GEODATA ) and Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy (DNRME) metadata link (DNRME) have details of source attributes including those not imported into the above tables.
The 'country' map is a copy of the Queensland DNRME Broad Vegetation Group (BVG) map. The BVG attribute was reclassified into a set of standard terms widely used by people in the Gulf country to describe their landscapes.
The 'inundation' map shows a maximum extent of wet season surface water inundation. It is based on a reclassification and conflation of Landsat Thematic Mapper bands 4 and 5 data from February 1992 and March 1994 (particularly wet years). The accuracy of the map was reviewed by KLNRMO rangers and by community Elders in 'desktop mapping' sessions at KLNRMO.
